Here are 2 types of fixed brace
Above is a metal fixed brace attached to the front of the teeth. Patients often ask for colours. The colour comes from the elastic used to attach the metal wire to the brackets. The NHS will only fund metal fixed braces.
We also have an image of a non-metal brace. The brackets attached to the teeth are made of mono-crystalline ceramic. As a result they are clear and let the colour of the teeth shine through. The wire is still metallic though, however, it has a coating to make it look white instead of silver. These braces are only available if you have private orthodontic treatment.
